Today's question is: how can a dog be comfortable when body parts are hanging off the edge of furniture? Jake stayed like that for over an hour. Whatever it takes to be close to mom. I was sitting on the couch cutting up magazines for collage. Sigh.
Top journal spread is in the 11x14 Canson Mixed Media book that was started in late 2018. Still on the quest to finish up art journals. I used a Carolyn Dube stencil for the words, randomly moving the stencil around to fill that big space. The girl was drawn with pencil, then colored, in layers, with Neo Color II's crayons. I have a box filled with those suckers, and keep forgetting about using them. Really like how they respond to this particular paper, so they will come out again.
New lesson with Gulfsprite is creating abstract backgrounds for whatever you want to draw. The photos are out of sequence. We chose 5 colors we liked. Didn't have to complement each other, just colors you like. This is all craft paint: Martha Stewart, Apple Barrel, Folk Art. I overlapped the colors, then drew on them with 3 different Neo Color II's. For the left page, I mixed white paint with the Party Streamer pink from Martha, and mixed black paint with that same pink for the blob on the right. Next lesson we draw images. But I wanted to share this because a) it was super fun b)a great way to loosen up and just move paint without thinking. I did another page in another journal as an abstract with the same colors and black. More to come.
If you haven't, vote. If you have, thank you. If you, like me, just want to twitch your nose and make it November 4th, raise your hand and hum any Beatles song. The one going through my head this week is REVOLUTION. I miss John Lennon. Linda
