I have been art journaling every single day. Not really happy with what I am producing, but I am trying my best to learn new techniques, not rip out pages, and just keep moving forward. If I have a paint brush or pencil in my hand, I am not stressing, eating, stress eating, or bored. All positive energy. The release is in the process of applying products to the page, not necessarily the end result. And not every page has to be pretty, does it?
First two spreads are in that very old Canson watercolor paper journal. Damn, that paper sucks. It even looks grainy in the photos. But I am just going to plow through and finish it. Acrylics were used in both spreads.
Next up is a spread from a Gulfsprite lesson. Sometimes you don't realize your mistake until you see the photo. I used colors too close to each other for the top (above the hair) and bottom (below the hair), so this spread is just off, but I am done. We drew the girl, then applied collage papers around her, with some underpainting as well. After all of that is dry, you finish it off. Wait, no, left a step out. We used hand sanitizer to remove some of the background paint so bits and pieces of the collage show in the final steps. I also added some shading with Arteza brush pens.
Last spread I was just in a pissed off mood, in general. Had just watched Food Network and saw my first Trump ad, where they announce that Joe Biden will raise the taxes on the middle class. Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris have said repeatedly that their tax plan will start the increases at income of $400,000. Trump lies yet again. The figure is from the Tim Holtz Halloween die cut collection, and the tissue paper with numbers is also Tim Holtz's newer release.
And finally, a photo of my kitchen table.....Gulfsprite is selling some of her journals. If you are interested, go to Etsy and search for Gulfsprite shop. I don't know if any are left, they move pretty fast. Prices range from $50 to $150, and you can watch a flip thru on YouTube, again under Gulfsprite. I purchased the black cover journal from 2019. Christy gifted me the smaller Dylusions journal from last year as well, and the 2 stencils. I have looked through both journals repeatedly, enthralled with her process. You don't realize how much is on a page unless you are holding the journal in your hands. I am grateful I can help out this artist, and that she reciprocates with these lovely presents. If you want to see what is inside the larger journal, check out the video on YouTube. It is the CUT AND PASTE journal marked sold.
I voted, in person, this past Tuesday. Lines were long, and have been long since early voting started on October 6th. Vote. Our lives depend on it. Linda
