An early birthday present |
I have another set of 3 paintings in the middle stage on the table now. Not quite ready to share, but they are coming along. The main trick to abstract painting is to learn when to stop, let the layers dry, before you create mud. Last night I was on the brink of mud, so yeah, turned off the light and left the room.
The warm up pieces were fun and done fast. That's okay, too. I laid all 3 panels out in a line, applied gesso, and when that was dry, just started making lines with the Jumbo pencil from Jerry's Artrama. The smaller circles are from one of my many stencils....many, many stencils. Sigh.
My friend Pat sent me this book for my birthday. It's from 2011, but most of the information is still quite valid. A lot of fun ways to add variety to your substrates, be that a canvas, journal page, or a mixed media project.
No art journaling. I will get back to it, but right now this class is keeping me busy. Plus, had to clean up the last of the leaves. Yep. Enjoy yourselves.
