Gulfsprite had a livestream for the paid group last Saturday night. You can subscribe either thru Patreon, or YouTube, under Gulfsprite. I stopped my Patreon account and switched over to YouTube and then discovered that YouTube can be rather sneaky. To me, it shouldn't matter what electronic device you are using to access the internet, or a subscription for which you are paying. But then again, I am someone who believes in equality....I digress. I can access the private links on my Mac or IPhone, and see the link on my IPad, but not go to it. YouTube has code blocking IPad access. Tells you that as soon as you click on the link. Isn't that special??? I love the fact that I was able to sync all of my devices, but kind of pissed off about not being able to view it on the IPad.
Anyway. Jeez. During that stream I drew the girl. That video was about incorporating collage into a drawing and painting. Christy tries to match the colors in the collage elements for the background, so I also tried doing a match (this was now on Sunday in the daylight, because I don't paint at night). My goal was to duplicate the yellow/gold swirls in the elephant to the girl's hair. Once I did that, I didn't like it. Christy has also set us up in a free Discord group, where we can message the groups, or individuals and send pics. I posted a photo and asked for help because I was stuck, and thus the repainting of the hair and change overall to the spread. The gold on the girl's neck and at the bottom is Dina Wakley's GILT paint. Very rich in appearance, and I will use that again.
Last spread of the castle is something I did last week, using the same concept. The castle photo came from a British Vogue magazine I found at Half Price Books pre-pandemic. Probably should be adding more to this, but nope, calling it done.
I am on the last double page spread of this journal. Have enjoyed working in this size, but it is a bitch to photograph because I keep getting the messy desk in as well. Each different size forces you to think about your art in that format. A welcome challenge.
I did not watch the debate. I am voting for Biden/Harris, and nothing can make me change my mind. I find it too stressful to watch a grown man act like a 10 year old bully, yelling, not abiding by the rules for anything, forcing his venom into the universe. My personal space does not need that toxic environment. So I finished up watching Jessica Jones on Netflix. If you are looking for a female damaged hero, it's worth the binge time. Vote. Linda
