And back to an old journal

Gulfsprite - Christy Sobolewski - did a live stream on YouTube for her Sprites group on Monday. We were all kind of venting about not feeling creative, needing a push to get started, including Christy. She ended up challenging us to use a supply we don't normally use, or just grab a handful of pens and pencils and use only the colors you put out. Anything to get your brain functioning and kick start the art. And that was our homework assignment.

I took it to heart. Yesterday I sharpened a box of Prima Colerase pencils. Had this box for probably over a year, and when I opened it saw that the pencils needed sharpening. Huh. Put them in the cart. The advantage to these is that they can be erased. I bought them for a reason, but that reason has long ago left the building, if you know what I mean.

The first photo is my sketch using only those pencils, no graphite. I LOVE these pencils. Following Christy's instructions, I shaded and highlighted with cool and warm colors. Next up was Apple Barrel Sunkissed Peach paint slightly watered down, to blend over the pencil marks. I let that dry while I painted the background, then did more finishing work with Arteza brush pens. The collage was last. Her hair and background are acrylic paint. Just easier.

This was in the large Dylusions Flip journal, I forget the size, but it is a pain to photograph due to the width. I do like working in it, and had forgotten about it. Slowly finishing my half finished journals. This was fun and easy and yes, I will do this technique again. Thinking flowers for the next spread. Go create something. Now. And smile. Linda
