In the early evening light |
I am on restricted movement due to health issues, so I can't mow grass, weed the gardens, clean the house or walk the dogs. Can we say shit? Yes. Yes, we can. What to do, what to do. I know. Let's art journal.
Spent an hour yesterday morning applying a thin coat of gesso to a zillion art journal pages. Had every single working journal open and drying. Then, just to have something to do, I went through an old Bazaar magazine and pulled out 5 people images that I plan to use in silhouette. Glued those to card stock, then cut them out carefully with a craft blade. Now I have a mask and a stencil in some fairly interesting shapes. Going to use those today.
All of my recent backgrounds have been the Dina Wakley method of applying paint on a page with dry gesso, then removing part of that paint through a stencil. I have also tried using 3 different colors of paint, with the same brush, and getting some color mixing going. Between the dirty brush, dirty stencil and dirty baby wipe, you can achieve some funky and unique blends.
Doing my best to stay off of Facebook, or just scroll past the hate. How did this country ever get to this point? Makes my heart hurt. So art journaling it is. Try it!
