Monday, Monday I Hate That Song

Dylusions 8x8 journal, acrylic in background, watercolor on girl

I was going for uneven eyes, but didn't exaggerate one enough

Yes, there is a story

All about play
Yesterday was wet, off and on, overcast but still around 58 degrees. I didn't feel like doing much of anything, knew walking the dogs was not an option, so we stayed home. I worked on art journaling all day. Which brings me to the story. This is a classic. I shall call it, how to injure yourself working in an art journal.

I use glue sticks a lot. The caps to any good glue stick are tight. That prevents the glue from drying up before you use it. But my old hands find it challenging to remove the caps. Sometimes I have to resort to pliers, and that doesn't always work. Yesterday I was holding the largest Elmer's Craft Bond glue stick in my left hand, and pulling on the cap with my right hand. Unfortunately, I was turned sideways to my desk in the desk chair. When the cap came off suddenly, I slammed my right hand into the wood like material on the front of a drawer. SLAMMED the knuckle of the middle finger. The skin immediately split, and I could see the swelling start. Being an idiot and dedicated craft/art woman, I glued down what I wanted to, before capping the glue stick and going to the kitchen for ice. With ice wrapped in a cloth and my hand and arm propped up, I called Cathy so she could laugh at me.

After resting it for about an hour, I just went on. Had already finished the spread with the girl, and wanted to collage again. There is another completed collage I forgot to photograph. By 7pm last night, my entire arm is hurting, particularly the elbow. Not extreme pain, just a dull ache. I have come to the conclusion that I really jammed that arm when it hit the desk, and basically Excedrin is my friend, and I will rest it whenever possible. There is no way in hell I am going anywhere near a medical facility for an X-ray. Just remember, folks, I did all of this in the safety of my own home.....
