My new canvas pencil cases arrived |
First, the craft stuff. I have my various types of pencils in original cases or plastic cases I bought at Target. Seems like there are a zillion of them, but the truth is more like 10. It is confusing. My friend, Melissa (mom to the puppy, Bronx) gave me a gift card to Amazon for my birthday. These gorgeous canvas pencil roles are $10 or less each, and hold 72 pencils! Really well made, I am quite pleased with this purchase. Except. Here it comes. Ready?
I developed allergies in my mid 40's that would bring my life to a halt when they struck. Migraines, vomiting, sinus infections that went into my chest, it was awful. My very wise doctor in Terre Haute, IN. realized it was allergies instead of my general state of health, and sent me for testing. I did the shots for 6 years, and the dander, mold, mildew, grain dust, etc. type of allergies are all gone. The one that lingered and can't be eradicated is cat saliva and dander. Sorry my cat friends, and I have a bunch, I can't come into your house. They all know that. But one allergy that I thought was gone was a reaction to treated fabrics, especially fabrics that come from China. Why? The Chinese are all about producing mass quantities of products at the cheapest possible price, which includes using formaldehyde to retain colors. Yes. I researched this, and it is the truth. It took me about 30 minutes, while watching tv last night, to organize pencils in just one of the above cases. I went into a sneezing attack, chest pressure and headache zone and said to myself, SHIT! China strikes again. The pencils will be removed and the cases will be hand washed in a bucket, so whatever is in them will not contaminate my washer. In fact, they will soak all day today. This should stop my reaction to the chemicals. I am passing this information along kind of as a public service announcement. The cases did have a very strong chemical odor when I removed them from their plastic bags.
Dogs: Bronx is a 10 week old Wheaten Terrier that Melissa has had for 2 weeks today. Because his bladder is still in baby mode, I go over the 3 days during the week that she has to go into the office and let him out. He has more dog toys than any dog should, and what does he love? Yep, the door stopper. Bronx has already figured out he can con Aunt Linda out of a treat. Just by looking pathetic. Oh, those puppy eyes. My two seniors sniff me when I get home, and look up all sad, mopey eyes. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN, MOM??? Deal with it, guys.
Linda
