I drew the girl the other night while watching a live stream on Gulfsprite.com. You can subscribe to these for $5.00 per stream, or $20.00 for the month. Christy reviews products, creates art and discusses whatever is going on. I just started, but the very cool part is you can access past streams by being a current subscriber at the $20 rate.
This drawing is in the Canson Mixed Media journal, which has a paper with tooth. It is not a smooth surface at all, therefore doesn't take colored pencils well. You can see the marks, and can't blend them. Christy has demoed colored pencils in the Dylusions journal, which she just started using. The art work she has done is gorgeous. So next up is pulling out a Dylusions journal because I have more than one, and trying that. Getting off track. The girl was drawn with a Stabilo All graphite pencil (not black), with shading done with graphite and a Prisma Color in Magenta. Hated that, so pulled out cheap craft paint to complete it.
I have had this clump of decorative grass in the yard for years. Always loved it, but the past 4 years it starts to fall over in August due to the size of the base. It should have been divided and replanted years ago, but dang, these suckers are super hard to chop up. Took the first pic late yesterday and asked Cathy's opinion in a text, did this grass need to be cut down? If you do it at this time of year, winter will kill the plant. We agreed, the time had come. The fronds falling over are killing the ground grass around the plant. As soon as I started to cut fronds and place them on the ground, Jake took note. My plant, mom. He was rolling in the fronds, laying on them trying to protect them. One of his favorite things was to walk in circles around this plant and lean into it. No idea why. Sorry, little buddy. The plant has to go.
Jake is sad. I can deal with that with extra hugs and kisses, paw massages. He will get over it.
