Vacation

The Edgewater Hotel on Alaskian Way, Seattle

Seattle skyline

It was a wild and fulfilling week of vacation. We started on Sunday morning with a duck ride. A "duck" is a vehicle that can drive on land and then cruise as a boat. I had taken duck rides in the Wisconsin Dells and Branson, Mo. Lots of fun, and usually very informative. In Seattle, there are a few drivers that have decided to make this as entertaining as possible. I laughed my ass off. We had a dude who said his name was Barnaby Wild. He played a variety of pop and rock and roll on the pa system, and the last song as we pulled back into the depot was "Born to be Wild". Get it? Barnaby becomes Born to be....

One of the sights he pointed out on our tour was the Edgewater Hotel. Turns out this is where the Beatles stayed in the 1960's, and there are published photos of them fishing out of the motel window. That would be the upper corner window closest to the street. Pat was in Beatle heaven.

There was a threat of rain, or "mizzle" as the locals call it. Mist and drizzle is what falls a lot. So some of the photos are kind of dark, but we enjoyed wandering around the waterfront. The photos of me are at a pull off area on the way to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. More on that this week. And yes, there is a reason it is called Hurricane Ridge. Holy Cow, Batman!

Thanks for stopping by.
Linda
