A hot mess. Story below |
I am at the point that I want to challenge myself with the supplies I have, and try new techniques. Sometimes it is extremely frustrating. Such is the case with the red head above. This was a Patreon lesson from Gulfsprite, in the ala prima (spelling??) style of painting. That is, you move fast and paint wet into wet. Gulfsprite said this is a method you must practice to master, and yeah boy, do I believe that! When I reached this stage, I said "done", and moved on. She painted so rapidly, I had to pause the IPad, catch up, then restart it. A learning experience.
There are some book papers that take paint very well. You don't know until you try. I happen to have a small collection of school books, readers from the primary grade level. One of those was used above, and I have another page painted on the same book paper. It wrinkles when wet with the water color, then flattens right out when dry. I never would have thought to use this without the lesson on Patreon.
Walking the dogs at the dog park, and making art is keeping me sane. I think. Enjoy your day. Linda
