Yesterday Sewcrazi had a post on Instagram of a new junk journal she had made. The papers she used came from an Etsy shop called My Porch Prints. The owner is Stephanie. You purchase the files and download them to print at home. I so liked the cover papers that Sewcrazi had used I immediately went to that Etsy shop. One cannot just look, can one? Nope. One must buy and download. I bought the grunge papers that brought me to the shop, and one Halloween pack. Stephanie has multiple Halloween and Christmas vintage paper files available.
We then went to the dog park at 8a.m. Holy Crapola on a stick, was it hot. And humid. And not nice at all, but we had not been in over a week due to the swamp from all the rain,They needed to walk around without a leash and mark every blade of grass and tree. Stayed an hour and came home. The above consumed the rest of my day.
I hand cut the tags and cards out, and used a glue stick to adhere them to a plain white card stock. Wanted some stability because I have cheap paper in my home printer. The circles are double sided with a little metal clip glued in-between the paper layers. THAT idea is directly from SewCrazi. She used an ordinary paper clip, but I couldn't find mine in the new, improved reorganized studio.
The basic journal is a piece of black card stock 12x12 from scrap booking supplies. I cut it to 9x12. Then scored it so the center section was 6 inches, making the sides 3 inches wide. Then scored it again across the bottom at 3 inches. I wanted to create pockets. Folded it up, and ran a thin line of Glitter Glue on the edges and the folds to make the 3 pockets.
This has no useful purpose whatsoever, and will end up at Cathy's. Halloween is her favorite holiday, and I was in the mood to make something. When you see junk journals for sale on Etsy for $175 and up, there is a reason. This simple little folded project took me about 7 hours. Those expensive, fat journals must take weeks.
Stay cool.
Linda
