Inside the Conservatory at Biltmore |
Ya know how it goes. I had the heat on in the house the week before we left for the Carolina's. It was chilly. It rained a lot. There were zero days when I could open the windows wide, due to that chill in the air.
So now? 85 yesterday, near 90 today, with high humidity. Whatever happened to the season of spring? The season where temperatures gradually increased, where gentle breezes wafted into the house? Yesterday I took Gracie for a long walk at 9am. The poor dog was so hot, she went into the creek 3 different times just to cool off her paws. Late yesterday afternoon, we tried the dog park. She lasted about 40 minutes, then sauntered off into a small patch of shade under a pathetic sugar maple tree. One of the other dog moms, Cheryl, suggested we go to the pond across the road. Riley will chase sticks into the water, Gracie wants to, but is afraid to swim. However, she did go in and get wet up to the middle of her body, and that was a good thing. My girl had a good time. Riley is one of the few female dogs from the park that Gracie will play with, nicely, and follow. Riley rules!
I have so many chores on my list, don't know where to begin. But must get started. Enjoy your day.
Linda
