Moving right along....

The ugly hot mess before consultation with Ohio friends

Close up of the ugly hot mess

Afterwards. Gesso and subdued layers.

I watched an old Gulfsprite video on YouTube. Hers turned out cool. Mine did not.

Another YouTube video with another artist. I was in the mood for grunge

The wings are some very old glitter glue product the I bought and never used. Imagine that.

My drawing with a napkin from Gulfsprite as the top, and gel prints as the border

Gulfsprite drawing of the girl, and I extended her art out to the edge of the page

Inspired by Alisa Burke on Pinterest

I have no clue what I was thinking.

So. Besides all of the above, I have also made Christmas cards and finished a scrapbook for a friend. I should probably stay off of YouTube and concentrate on classes that I paid for. Or not. But one thing I want to point out is a tip from Gulfsprite. In the layout above, the girl was painted on old book paper. The two weird figures to her right were stenciled on the same old paper. All were cut out and pasted onto the page. If you are unsure of your drawing, or arrangement of images on your page, this is a great way to create before committing to the art journal. I happen to have an old employee handbook from Ford Motor Company. I'm sure they won't mind that the paper, which is heavy, is being recycled into my art journals. I have also used it for gel plate printing. Next up, I'm thinking stenciling flowers and cutting those out. Or, go watch yet another YouTube video.

The art I received from Gulfsprite came in her ephemera packages, available on her Etsy shop. For $25 you get miscellaneous magazine images, original art work, and at least 2 stencils. I am enjoying using her work in my journals. Go create! Linda
