This page irritated me every time I opened the journal |
 |
So yesterday morning I did this. Ahhh, better. Not good, but better |
 |
The start of an abstract on 12x14 wood panel. Base is black gesso |

She could no longer hide in the distance. |
Old trick if you put out too much paint on the palette, is to wipe, scrap, or brush that paint onto a blank journal page. I have started doing that again, and this girl with the flowers is from a few days of left over paint. The title refers to my own family turmoil with drug addiction. Once a week I have to remind my step daughter that she can't fix her grown daughter. We will get there......
Jane Davis, who has a blog called Collage Journey, has been posting videos of sanding (either by hand or with an orbital sander) layers off of her paintings, then adding more layers. I am intrigued. So I started one. However I'm not intrigued enough to stick with nothing but that wood panel, so it is hit or miss if I work on it. No longer going to beat myself up for not staying with one project. I am working in the studio every day, and that is what counts. Couldn't do much last night after an eye exam, with the dilation drops. I hate having my eyes dilated. For some strange reason, that crap lasts on me for hours. Like 8 to 10 hours. I had sunglasses on inside the house 4 hours after the drops.
Being old sucks.
