My attention span is shortening with age. I am so easily distracted when it comes to working on art projects. In the past two weeks, I have gone from the Robin-Marie Smith Booklet Bundles of Joy class, (still incomplete) to the altered book, (on the last 3 pages) to watching Jill Faust videos on YouTube and wanting to do her style of art journaling.
The above background was created using a 3x5 inch Gel Press Plate as a stamp, affixed to an acrylic block. I applied Martha Stewart craft paint in 4 different colors, then used some foam stamps from ArtFoamies for accent. Once the paint was dry, I drew the girl with a Prang charcoal pencil. Several things are wrong: what in the hell was I thinking with the 1960's hair style? She looks like that rat's nest has been teased and sprayed. Hello??? I am still, STILL, having a problem with making the eyes look more realistic. And the reason is I fall back into what I know, instead of trying what I am seeing. The only way I can get around this problem is to do pages and pages of only eyes, and I will do them in pencil, not charcoal. I like using charcoal, but do not feel my experience level is there for it yet.
Back to the drawing....
Linda
