I read the news today, Oh boy
the English army had just won the war
although the news was rather sad
I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph

I have lost my mojo to create any art whatsoever. I think the reasons are various, and in the end it will all work itself out, and I will return to the studio. But there is an overwhelming sense of doom due to the ridiculous news out of trump and his sidekicks. Evil. That is all I can say. But here is a short history lesson for you today, that perhaps will put things into perspective.

The Special Olympics were founded by Eunice Shriver, one of Joseph and Rose Kennedy's daughters. It was to honor her sister, Rosemary. In 1941, Joseph Kennedy ordered doctors to perform a lobotomy on his 23 year old daughter. Rosemary was slower than her siblings both physically and mentally. The procedure was new and failed. Rosemary was left incapacitated for the remainder of her long life. She died at the age of 86. In 1962, Eunice started the Special Olympics. In 1990, Senator Ted Kennedy was instrumental in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, also to honor Rosemary.

And now the child man in the White House is dismantling the funding. What the country spends on just 5 weekends of trump playing golf in Florida is the annual amount for the Special Olympics.

Another tidbit: there is a new book being released April 2nd, on Barbara Bush. She was interviewed extensively in the last 6 months of her life, and I find this fascinating: Mrs. Bush, the wife of a President, the mother of a President, no longer considered herself a Republican at the end of her life. She could not condone what trump and his gang were doing to the country.

Bless you, Mrs. Bush.
Linda
